Dear Embroidery Friends, I hope everyone had a joyous holiday and Happy New Year's. January is one of my favorite times of the year to retreat to my sewing studio for quality sewing time. Our typical Northeast Ohio winter has rolled in with plenty of snow so far this year so I tend to just stay inside all snug and warm. Currently I am working on finishing up my Spring Dreams Pillow in the pink colorway and have started stitching my embroideries for the War of the Roses Quilt. I still can't get over how beautiful the designs from Margaret's Magnificent Melody stitch out. The shades of red Jenny chose for this quilt are stunning and the embroidery looks like velvet when stitched out on Dissolve Magic and organza. I have the thread sets available now and will have the silk fabric kits up on the website soon. Jenny and Simon have been hard at work also on a new Special Edition CD, Fabricadabra. Fabricadabra, which is a quilt by Simon, uses a unique embroidery technique that gives an exact 1/4 inch stitch outline for each design which is the cutting line to piece the embroidered strips/blocks and includes designs from Simon's Terrific Trims. As many of you have probably heard, the price of fabric and batting is on the rise due to increasing costs of raw materials. I know that several batting manufacturer's have already announced increases and unfortunately the distributor of the Jenny Haskins products is doing the same. So far the price increases are mainly on the Quilt Magic and Sheer Magic products. The new prices will go into effect on January 31, 2011 so now is the time to stock up if you need either of these products. Please see below for more information. I saw this quilt in person in Houston and have to say that the cover just does not do this quilt justice! With the subtle shading of the reds Jenny used, the embroidery looks just like velvet. I have thread sets available now, along with a bundle of both the threadset and the Margaret's Magnificent Melody at a special price. Fabric kits will be available soon so stayed tuned for an update.
